Identities project was released in January 2006 in Damascus, within a conference entitled “Body and identity: the representation of the Body in Arabic Culture” organized by the French Institute of the Near East (IFPO) and moderated by Dr. Hassan Abbas.
Our participation consisted in a lecture entitled “Body between religious ceremony and contemporary dance”, and a workshop for professional dancers, actors and singers.
أطلق مشروع هوّيات في كانون الثاني 2006 في دمشق ، ضمن مؤتمر بعنوان “الجسد والهوية: تمثيل الجسد في الثقافة العربية” بتنظيم من المعهد الفرنسي للشرق الأدنى و إدارة الدكتور حسّان عباس.
شاركنا في المؤتمر من خلال محاضرة بعنوان “الجسد بين الطقس الديني والرقص المعاصر”، وورشة عمل للراقصين و الممثلين و المغنيين المحترفين
Identities researched the process of putting the socio-religious rituals of the The Levant region, and the mixture of religions it accommodates (Islam, Christianity and Judaism)- in the form of physical theater performance. This aim was achieved by researching a ritual’s movement vocabulary. its form, indications and symbols; and exploring its possibility of being turned into an integral movement language that can eventually construct an identity of the Arab body on stage
بحث مشروع هويات في عملية وضع الطقوس الاجتماعية والدينية في منطقة بلاد الشام – مع مزيج الأديان التي تستوعبها (الإسلام والمسيحية واليهودية) -في شكل عرض مسرح حركي . و قد تم تحقيق هذا الهدف من خلال البحث في المفردات الحركية الخاصة بالطقوس من حيث الشكل والدلالات والرموز، واستكشاف إمكانية تحويلها إلى لغة حركية متكاملة يمكنها في النهاية بناء هوية للجسد العربي على خشبة المسرح
The three main components of the project were: theatrical researches , workshops, and physical theatre performances that were based on the actual mood of rituals, and leaded by a structure of artistic choices included working in alternative places, using senses (smells, touch and tastes), involving the audience in sensational journeys rather than in theatre performances, activate the audience’s role by sharing the playing space with them and proposing as much partnership with them as possible, and, for the first time, selecting performers by auditioning
كانت المكونات الرئيسية الثلاث للمشروع هي: البحوث النظرية ، وورش العمل ، والعروض المسرحية الحركية التي تستند إلى المزاج الفعلي للطقوس وتقودها بنية من الخيارات الفنية تشمل العمل في أماكن بديلة ، واستخدام الحواس (الرائحة واللمس والتذوق) ، إشراك الجمهور في رحلة حواسية وتحفيزه من خلال مشاركته مساحة اللعب واقتراح أكبر قدر ممكن من الشراكة معه، وللمرة الأولى ، اختيار المؤدين عن طريق اختبارات الأداء
This project achieved several research papers , five workshops ,two performances , direct discussions with the audience on social issues, tour in local cities and a participation in Julidans festival in Amsterdam
حقق هذا المشروع العديد من الأوراق البحثية، وخمس ورش عمل، وعرضين حركيين، ونقاشات مباشرة مع الجمهور حول مواضيع اجتماعية، وجولة في المدن المحلية و مشاركة في مهرجان جولي دانس في امستردام في 2010
