LEISH TROUPE

 

Leish Troupe was founded in 1999 Damascus, by Syrian actress and movement designer   Noura Murad.  Through research and experimentation, the troupe’s work aims to construct a Movement Theatre vocabulary particular to the current Arabic context by identifying the symbols we use to construct the sentences, paragraphs, and eventually the stories of our lives here and now .The methodology used is the auto portrait, which accesses the personal stories, emotions, and body language of the performers and engages them as collaborators in the creative act of constructing the performance.   Our work demonstrates the dynamic search for expression between performers (actors, dancers, singers, and musicians) and artists, designers, and the audience, aiming to dissolve the traditional boundary between observer and observed.

Leish Troupe is an artistic assembly licensed by the Union of Artists according to: resolution no. 1294 based on law no. 13 in 1990, the internal system in the union, and the resolution of the union’s board on 15.8.2000.
